After several years of not purchasing from them and only momentary glances at their site, I sat down and did a search on Amazon. The site has turned into an absolute nightmare! It worked the first time but I gave up on the second attempt because it was ridiculously slow and didn't even read properly. I'm using XP Pro, the latest stable version of FireFox and NVDA. I've had it with Amazon!
So does anyone know of a better alternative? It would be great to find a place that has all sorts of things like them, but I know other stores where I can find things other than books. The latter is my main attraction here. I know of half.com and Barnes and Noble but not much else. I need a place that has a very large array of books or at least sells rare or international ones. Any help would be appreciated.
Try www.amazon.com/access
Also I have both bought and sold on Amazon using JAWS 10 and works just fine.
Other book stores online:
www.borders.com
www.booksamillion.com
A store you can go to buy and sell books:
www.halfpricebooks.com
I don't buy books from there, but I do agree that typing /access after amazon.com does make the site easier to navigate. I only use it when I can't find what I want anywhere else because their shipping and handling charges are outrageous.
Thanks guys. I used to buy my Harry Potter tapes from the UK site, since they had the ones narrated by Stephen Fry. Is Half Price Books related to half.com? I know they're a pretty decent site.
Doesn't Klango have an ap that works with Amazon? I think I remember seeing it, but never tried it out, and considering the instability of some of their other aps it might not be an option, but just a suggestion if you use Klango.
I love Klango and will definitely check it out. Thanks. I just wish that I could get ESpeak to work in Greek with it so that i could do some searches on Youtube, particularly since I can no longer use it's regular site since I still have that volume problem.
